He digs the sand pit. I mean that figuratively and literally. I had raked it pretty level when I finished filling it, and sowed toys in the sand for them to find, but the dogs got much more interested in it when I showed my own interest in it by digging around. I got digging and then they got excited and began helping out- now we have a really nice crater and a soft pile- its a moonscape and much more interesting. I like how one of the dogs will ‘claim’ the sand by laying on it or scraping it like a charging bull, while the other teases by dashing onto the snad and flicking away, then they just get goofy and roll around and chase each other. The yard is not so bad!
I also took Sage out for some Community Service- sans the community. Rei, Sage and I put up trail signs in the H. Woods. Just us. I put the backpack on the S-dogue and he carried the arrow signs and a box of nails for me. I kept him on leash and I sincerely do not think he was crushed to not be off leash. He was “working” and helping. He was calm, and happy. He was alert and strong, but WITH me. We all liked it.
